Huyser Burger, singer for industrial band Battery 9, has died.

Burger had been hospitalised after suffering a collapse related to kidney and liver failure.

Huyser also went by the performance name DJ Fokkolnonsins, and also dabbled in visual arts.

Beeld quoted bandmate Paul Riekert as saying that Burger (was) an uncomfortably creative person who was also very stubborn: "I laugh about it now, but maybe it's so I don't cry. He has been struggling with his health for a while and created less.

"I told him he abuses alcohol and it will take everything away from him. His friends, relationships, his health."
