Red Hot Chili Peppers will tour South Africa in February, Big Concerts announced officially on Monday.

The announcement was a formality, as fans had insisted that the band let the cat out of the bag several weeks ago on Twitter.

The tour will run Saturday, 2nd February at the Soccer City Complex, FNB Stadium, Johannesburg and on Tuesday, 5th February at Cape Town Stadium.

In April 2012 the band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Tickets go on sale through all Computicket for the Johannesburg performance at 09:00 on Wednesday 29 August, followed by Cape Town at 09:00 on Thursday 30 August.

Zef-rappers Die Antwoord will be featured as a support act for the tour.
